Online Career Counsellor in Ahmedabad
An Online Career Counsellor in Ahmedabad, for a City Where Work Arrives Before the Decision Does
Psychometric assessment plus a 1-on-1 online session with Arun Kumar Saxena, Certified Advanced Career Coach, CBSE Resource Person, and founder of MINDSCAN. Fully online career counselling for GSEB, CBSE, ICSE and ISC students, graduates and working professionals across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Sessions in Hindi or English.
Quick Answer
A career counsellor in Ahmedabad is a qualified professional who uses a psychometric assessment, measuring aptitude, interest, personality and learning style, together with a live 1-on-1 session, to help a student or a working professional choose a stream, a course, a college or a career move. Here it is delivered as online career counselling, so the assessment is taken at home and the session runs on video from anywhere in Satellite, Bopal, Maninagar, Chandkheda or Gandhinagar.
At MINDSCAN the full assessment and counselling package costs ₹2,999, sessions run on Google Meet or Zoom in Hindi or English, and a Commerce or Arts plan is built with the same care as a Science one. A standalone AI Career Clarity Report is ₹1,499.
Local Context
Why Does a Career Counsellor in Ahmedabad Need Local Knowledge?
Because the advice that works in Delhi or Bangalore assumes something Ahmedabad does not have, which is a young person with nothing else to do. Here there is nearly always something else to do. A shop. A firm. An uncle who needs someone at the counter from Monday.
The numbers make the point better than any opinion. Gujarat recorded an unemployment rate of 1.1% against an all India 3.2% in the Periodic Labour Force Survey for 2023-24, the second lowest in the country. Youth unemployment for those aged 15 to 29 was 5.1% against an all India 10.0%. On paper this is a state that has solved the problem every other state is still arguing about.
Now put the second set of numbers beside it. Gujarat’s secondary school dropout rate was 16.9% in 2024-25 against an all India 11.5%, and its higher secondary enrolment ratio was 47.3% against an all India 58.4%, both from the UDISE+ 2024-25 analysis. Fewer than half the state’s sixteen year olds are in a classroom at all.
Those two facts are not in tension. They are the same fact. Work is so available in Ahmedabad that education stops being the obvious next step, and the decision that should be made at fifteen simply never gets made. Somebody just starts working.
That is the specific job here. A career counsellor in Ahmedabad is rarely arguing a student out of unemployment. The counsellor is arguing them into a decision, at the one age where the decision is still cheap to make.
The Honest Argument
Is Leaving Education Early the Safer Bet in Ahmedabad?
It looks like it, for about eight years. Then it stops looking like it, and by then the option has closed. This is the single question a career counsellor in Ahmedabad is asked more than any other, so it is worth answering with the state’s own figures rather than with an opinion.
Where Gujarat Actually Loses Its Students
Not at the point everybody assumes. The transition rate from Class 10 into Class 11 in Gujarat was 76.0%, marginally above the all India 75.1%. Students who finish Class 10 do go on. The loss happens earlier, inside Classes 9 and 10, where 16.9% leave. By the time a family is thinking about streams, a sixth of the cohort has already gone.
Then it happens again after school. NITI Aayog’s own report on Gujarat puts the state’s higher education enrolment ratio at 22.2% in 2021 against a national 27.3%, with a gender parity index of 0.87 where the national figure is 1.05. Girls are leaving faster than boys, in the state with the money to keep them.
The Seats Are Sitting Empty in Ahmedabad Itself
This is the part that should stop any parent reading. Gujarat University‘s jurisdiction is Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. For 2025-26 it offered over 66,000 undergraduate seats and confirmed 12,942 admissions after three rounds of the state’s common admission portal, under a fifth of capacity, even though more than 58,000 students had listed the university as a preference.
The year before was worse. Over 65,000 seats, 17,810 admissions across two rounds, more than 47,000 seats left vacant, and the university reopened offline admissions to try to fill them. In 2024 alone, 785 of 1,502 BBA seats and 662 of 2,218 BCA seats went unfilled.
Read it slowly. The students exist. The seats exist. The students had even named the university they wanted. Nobody joined the two together, and that gap is the whole reason a career counsellor in Ahmedabad has anything useful to do.
Who This Argument Is Actually Aimed At
Not at Gujarati families, and not at the business instinct that built this city. That instinct is the state’s advantage and it is why the jobs are here in the first place.
It is aimed at an advice industry that has never bothered with these students. Career guidance in India is written for the JEE and NEET aspirant, because that is where the coaching money is, and most of it is written with Kota in mind rather than Naranpura. The Class 10 student in Naranpura who is quietly drifting towards the family firm is not a customer to anybody, so nobody sits down with them and lays the two paths side by side with real numbers on each. That conversation costs one afternoon. Not having it costs a decade.
Boards
Which School Boards Shape Career Choices in Ahmedabad?
GSEB, Which Carries Four Out of Five Students
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board is the default. In the 2026 Higher Secondary results, 1,11,090 candidates sat the Science stream and 4,35,102 sat the General stream, which is Commerce and Arts together. Science is barely a fifth of the cohort. General stream passed at 92.71%, Science at 84.33%.
One local detail matters more than the state average. Ahmedabad City was the lowest performing district in Gujarat in the 2026 General stream, at 87.10%, more than five points below the state figure. The city that generates the state’s money produces its weakest Class 12 General results. No adviser in Ahmedabad should be quoting the state number to a family here.
At Class 10, GSEB’s 2026 SSC result was 83.86%, with 6,34,327 of 7,56,392 regular candidates passing. Girls passed at 88.28% and boys at 80.12%, a gap of more than eight points that almost nobody plans around.
CBSE, and the English Medium Assumption
Ahmedabad has a large and growing CBSE presence, concentrated in Satellite, Bopal, Thaltej, Chandkheda and the SG Highway corridor. Nationally, CBSE Class 12 in 2026 saw 17,68,968 candidates appear with a pass rate of 85.20%, down 3.19 points from 88.39% the previous year.
Families move to CBSE mainly for JEE and NEET alignment. That is a sound reason. It becomes an unsound one when the child’s measured aptitude does not point at engineering or medicine, because the board switch then buys nothing except an unfamiliar syllabus. This is a question worth settling with an assessment rather than with a school tour.
ICSE and ISC, Small but Decisive
The CISCE cohort in Ahmedabad is small and academically confident, and it tends to look outward, towards national universities, design, law and study abroad. The risk here runs the other way. These students are rarely short of options and frequently short of a reason for choosing between them, which is exactly what a psychometric profile is for.
Entrance Exams
Which Entrance Exams Matter Most for Ahmedabad Students?
GUJCET, the State Gateway Most Families Underrate
GUJCET 2026 was held on 29 March 2026 with 2,72,631 registrations. Of the session appearances, 75,514 sat Biology and 57,158 sat Mathematics. It feeds engineering and pharmacy admission through the Admission Committee for Professional Courses.
The part nobody prepares for is what happens after the result. ACPC’s own vacancy documents show how loose the market is. For postgraduate engineering in 2025-26, 6,038 seats were on offer and 1,490 were allotted in Round 1, leaving 4,548 vacant, which is three quarters of the intake. Even in government degree engineering for 2026-27, 1,223 seats went to the online vacancy round.
JEE and NEET, and the Honest Conversation Before Them
JEE Advanced 2026 had 1,87,389 registrations and 56,880 qualifiers. NEET UG 2026 saw close to twenty lakh candidates appear, with 11.21 lakh qualifying, according to the National Testing Agency. Qualifying and getting a seat are not the same event.
Gujarat’s own medical counselling shows the gap. In the 2025 state round, 6,827 candidates were allotted MBBS or BDS seats and 1,169 did not report, leaving 807 seats vacant. B.J. Medical College, founded in 1897 and admitting 250 MBBS students a year, closed at general category rank 108. That single number tells a family in Ahmedabad more than a year of coaching brochures.
CUET, Design and Law, Consistently Missed
Ahmedabad sits next to some of India’s best design and management institutions and a striking number of local students never apply. NID Ahmedabad offers 128 undergraduate design seats across eight disciplines, with the entrance test held in December for the following academic year. CEPT University, incorporated by the state in 2005, ranked sixth in India for architecture and planning in NIRF 2025.
CUET matters most for the General stream student who assumes a local B.Com is the only realistic route. It is not, and the deadline for finding that out is a calendar date, not a feeling.
The Local Market
What Careers Does Ahmedabad Actually Offer?
The Industrial Spine, and What It Really Hires
Gujarat was India’s largest exporting state in 2024-25 with Rs 9.83 lakh crore of exports, 26.6% of the national total. It accounts for 46.16% of India’s chemical exports and roughly a third of its pharmaceutical turnover, and processes about 72% of the world’s polished diamonds, according to IBEF. In the Annual Survey of Industries for 2022-23 the state ranked first in India for both fixed capital and output.
What that means for a seventeen year old is narrower than it sounds. These sectors hire chemical, mechanical and production engineers, quality and regulatory staff, plant chemists and supply chain people. They hire very few of the generalist graduates the city actually produces in bulk. The pattern is closer to Coimbatore than to a services led metro.
Pharma, and the Employers Worth Naming
Zydus Lifesciences, headquartered in Ahmedabad, employs over 29,000 people and runs 19 research sites with around 1,500 researchers. Torrent Pharmaceuticals, founded in 1972 and based at Thaltej, reported revenue of Rs 13,980 crore in FY2026 and operates in more than fifty countries. Intas is a short distance away on the same corridor.
These are genuine graduate employers with structured entry routes. They are also invisible to most Class 12 students in this city, who can name three coaching institutes and no employer. Naming them, and working backwards from what they hire, is ordinary work for a career counsellor in Ahmedabad.
The New Layer, and Whether to Plan Around It
Gujarat’s Global Capability Centre policy for 2025 to 2030 targets 250 new centres, more than 50,000 jobs and Rs 10,000 crore of investment. Six semiconductor projects have drawn Rs 1.24 lakh crore, with over 50,000 direct and indirect jobs projected. GIFT City across the river now hosts more than a thousand registered entities and 38 banking units.
Plan for this carefully rather than enthusiastically, in the way a family in Pune or Hyderabad learned to a decade ago. Announced jobs are not filled jobs, and the roles that arrive first are senior. A student should treat this as a reason to take a specific degree seriously, not as a reason to assume a job is waiting.
The Institutions on Your Doorstep
IIM Ahmedabad ranked first in India for management in NIRF 2025 with a score of 83.29. NID was founded here in 1961. Dhirubhai Ambani University at Gandhinagar closed its flagship ICT programme at rank 16 in ACPC 2025, the most sought after seat in the state. L.D. College of Engineering has been running since 1948.
None of that is in short supply. What runs short every year is the number of Ahmedabad students who applied to any of it before the deadline.
The Process
How Does a Career Counsellor in Ahmedabad Actually Work?
Four steps, and all four are online. Working with a career counsellor in Ahmedabad this way removes the drive across town, the SG Highway traffic and the assumption that the best adviser is the one with the largest hoarding near Vastrapur.
1. The assessment. A psychometric battery covering aptitude, interest, personality and learning style. About 45 minutes, taken at home and unsupervised, because supervision changes the answers.
2. The report. A written profile setting out what the student is measurably strong at, what they are measurably not, and which career families that combination fits. Written so a parent can read it, not only a student.
3. The session. A live 1-on-1 online video call on Google Meet or Zoom, in Hindi or English. Parents are welcome and are usually the reason a plan survives contact with the household. In Ahmedabad the person who needs convincing is often the one running the family business, and having them on the same call is worth more than any report.
4. The written plan. Specific next steps with dates on them, which is the part of a career counsellor in Ahmedabad that survives after the call ends. Which exams to sit and which to drop, how to order a GUJCET, GCAS or CUET preference list before the window opens rather than during it, and, where the family business is genuinely part of the plan, what qualification would make that person more valuable inside it.
Who It Is For
Who Actually Uses a Career Counsellor in Ahmedabad?
Class 9 and 10, Stream Selection
This is the highest value moment in the whole sequence, and in Gujarat it is also the moment with the highest attrition. A sixth of the cohort leaves during these two years. A stream chosen against measured aptitude costs two years and usually a change of direction at eighteen, when it is far more expensive. The national guide sets out how the stream decision is normally structured.
Class 11 and 12, and the Preference List
Gujarat’s common admission portal handled 6,99,525 applicants for 2026-27 across 41 universities and 2,933 colleges, many of them affiliated to Gujarat Technological University. It has also run as many as 36 admission rounds in a single cycle, stretching into November even though Class 12 results are out in May. Families read that as reassurance that there is always another round. It is the opposite. It is what a market looks like when nobody has planned.
The Graduate Already Working in the Family Firm
A large share of enquiries from Ahmedabad come from people in their twenties who are employed, earning, and unsure whether this is a career or simply what happened. Gujarat had roughly 2.83 lakh registered educated unemployed in March 2023, of whom 17,896 were in Ahmedabad district, and that figure counts only the ones who registered. The larger group is employed and unmeasured.
For them the work is different, and it looks more like the mid career work done in Indore or Jaipur. Not a stream, but an honest read of what they are good at, whether a qualification would raise their value inside the business, and what a move outside it would actually require. That is also where a properly built resume starts to matter.

Why This Practice
Who Is the Career Counsellor Behind This?
Arun Kumar Saxena is a Certified Advanced Career Coach, a CBSE Resource Person, and the founder of MINDSCAN. The practice runs on assessment first and opinion second. Choosing a career counsellor in Ahmedabad should come down to method, not to how long a name has been on a board near Law Garden. The same standard is applied on every city page, from Lucknow to Kolkata.
Three things are worth stating plainly, because in this city they are what separates one adviser from the next.
No admission is sold here. There is no tie-up with any college in Gujarat or anywhere else, no management quota arrangement, and no commission on a seat. In a market where a great many advisers are paid by the institution rather than by the family, that is the first question worth asking anybody, and most of them cannot answer it the way this page just has.
No promise is made about a business either. If the family firm is genuinely the right place for this person, the work will say so and then concentrate on what would make them better at it. What the work will not do is pretend a decision has been made when it has only been avoided.
And the third is about what this actually costs you. A stream chosen wrongly at 15 costs two years. A branch chosen wrongly at 17 costs four, and the fees on top. A graduate who spends five years in the wrong role loses earnings that dwarf any counselling fee. Set against that, ₹2,999 for a psychometric assessment, an hour of structured thinking and a written plan is the smallest number in the whole decision, and the only one you pay before the mistake instead of after it. In Ahmedabad the bill for guessing still arrives. It simply arrives in years rather than in rupees.

Common Questions
Career Counsellor in Ahmedabad, Frequently Asked Questions
The complete package, psychometric assessment plus a 1-on-1 online session plus a written action plan, is ₹2,999. A standalone AI Career Clarity Report without the session is ₹1,499. Prices are the same for Ahmedabad as for every other city, there is no separate consultation fee, and nothing is charged before you know the price.
Yes, and for a reason most families do not expect. The useful question is what he brings with him when he joins. A firm run by someone who understands accounting, supply chains or digital marketing is worth more than the same firm run on instinct alone. The assessment identifies which of those he would actually be good at, so the degree taken alongside the business is the one that raises its value rather than three years spent collecting a certificate nobody uses.
No. Four out of five Gujarat Class 12 candidates sit the General stream, which is Commerce and Arts, and this city runs on commerce. What makes it weak is treating it as the default rather than the choice. A Commerce student with a plan can aim at chartered accountancy, company secretaryship, actuarial work, banking, analytics or a specialised management route. A Commerce student without one arrives at a B.Com and then waits. The stream is not the problem. The absence of a plan behind it is.
No. There is no tie-up with any college in Gujarat or elsewhere, no management quota arrangement and no commission on a seat. The only money that changes hands is the fee on this page, paid by the family. Ask every adviser you speak to the same question, and be careful with anyone who answers slowly.
Sessions run in Hindi or English. Most Ahmedabad families are comfortable in one or the other, and the written report and action plan are in English so they can be read again later, shared with a relative, or taken to a school. If a parent is more comfortable in Hindi, the call is conducted in Hindi throughout.
It is the best time, and in Gujarat it is also the most urgent. The state loses 16.9% of its students during Classes 9 and 10, well above the all India 11.5%, so this is the stretch where a plan matters most. Class 9 gives you two full years to test a direction before the stream is locked. Class 12 gives you a fortnight and a form.
Only if the aptitude points there first. The board switch is a real advantage for a student genuinely aimed at engineering or medicine, because the syllabus overlap is closer. It is an expensive disruption for a student who is not. Settle the direction with an assessment, then decide the board. Doing it the other way round is how families end up paying twice.
The value sits in the assessment and the written plan, and neither improves by being handed over in a room. Online also removes the cross city drive, makes evening and weekend slots practical, and lets a parent join from the shop or the office instead of taking a half day. The national guide to online career counselling sets out how the format works in more detail.
Then that is exactly what the session is for. A psychometric profile is evidence, not a verdict, and it is most useful when it contradicts the assumption in the room. The session is where the family, the student and the data are put on the table together and a decision is reached that everybody can live with. Nobody is told what to do.
Yes, and it is a large share of the work here. Ahmedabad has plenty of people in their late twenties who are employed, paid reasonably, and have never once chosen the thing they are doing. The session covers what the profile is genuinely strong at, whether a qualification would raise earnings inside the current sector, and what a move would actually require in time and money. Resume and LinkedIn work is available separately.
Pay securely through the Razorpay booking links on this page, or message on WhatsApp at +91-9140604743 first, in Hindi or English. The assessment plus counselling package is ₹2,999. You receive the assessment link immediately and the session is scheduled at a time that suits the family, including evenings and weekends.
