Step one

What to put in your first message

You will get a far more useful reply if the first message contains three things. It takes about two minutes to write and it saves a round of back-and-forth.

  • Who the career counselling session is for. Yourself, your child, or someone else — and roughly what age or class.
  • The decision you are actually facing. “Stream after Class 10”, “degree shortlist”, “whether to leave my job”, “interview next week”. One line is enough.
  • Any deadline. A board result, an admission window, a notice period, an offer you are sitting on.

If you are not sure a career counselling session is the right thing at all, say that too. I would rather tell you it is not needed than take a booking that will not help.

Step two

Which career counselling session fits you

You do not have to pick before you message — I will suggest one. But this is the map, with prices as published.

Every fee above links straight to secure Razorpay checkout, and is confirmed in writing before anything starts. The full reasoning behind each one is on the career counselling FAQ.

Step three

What happens after you book a career counselling session

  1. I reply, usually within a working day. You get a straight recommendation: which service fits, what it costs, and what it will and will not do for you.
  2. If you go ahead, you get an assessment link. You complete it before we meet, so the career counselling session itself is spent interpreting results rather than collecting basic information.
  3. We meet for sixty to ninety minutes on Google Meet or Zoom. For students, I ask a parent to join for the last fifteen minutes.
  4. You get a written report. The shortlist, the reasoning behind it, and the next steps in order. It is the part you will still be using six months later.

Sessions run from wherever you are. Most families take the call at home, which is where people speak most honestly.

Common worries

Before you book a career counselling session

Four things people ask me privately before they commit. Short answers, because they deserve short answers.

Do I actually need a session, or just some advice?

Sometimes just advice, and I will say so. A career counselling session earns its fee when you are comparing options you cannot weigh objectively, or when the cost of getting it wrong is a degree, a relocation or a resignation. If your question has a one-line answer, you will get it in the reply and pay nothing.

Can I book a career counselling session for my child without them?

You can book it, but the session itself needs the student present — the assessment is theirs and the conversation has to be with them. What works well is a short call with you first to understand the family context, then the full session with your child, with you joining for the last fifteen minutes.

What if I am outside India?

That is fine. Everything runs on Google Meet or Zoom, and I work with Indian families in the Gulf, Singapore, the UK and North America regularly. Tell me your time zone in the first message and I will offer slots that are not the middle of your night.

Can I reschedule, and what if I am not satisfied?

Reschedule freely with reasonable notice — life happens, and a distracted session is worth nothing to either of us. If the session genuinely does not deliver what I told you it would, say so and we will put it right. The scope is confirmed in writing beforehand precisely so that conversation is simple.

Worth two minutes

Read this before you write

Most first questions are already answered. The career counselling FAQ covers fees, how online sessions run, what a psychometric test actually measures, stream choice after Class 10, choosing a career after Class 12 and career change after 30. If your question is there, you may not need to message at all.

If you would rather read first, the blog goes deeper on specific decisions, and the free Career DNA protocol is a starting point that costs nothing. For official course lists, recognised universities and exam calendars, check National Career Service, CBSE and UGC directly rather than relying on any counsellor, including me.
